Semi-truck Driver Attempts Illegal Pass, Crosses Center Line into Oncoming Traffic, And Causes Fatal Head-on Collision on State Route 93
WZAZ News reports that on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, just before 9 a.m., a semi-truck was heading northbound on State Route 93, just one mile south of State Route 328 in Vinton County, Ohio. As the truck driver was heading northbound, a vehicle in front of the semi slowed for a crossing animal. Instead of slowing for traffic in front, the semi-truck driver decided to attempt to pass. The semi-truck driver crossed the center line into oncoming southbound traffic. At the same time, Brian D. Christensen, 58 years old, of Sunbury, Ohio, was driving southbound on State Route 93 and was hit head-on by the semi-truck.
Mr. Christensen was transported to the hospital. Despite his best efforts and those of emergency personnel, Mr. Christensen succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
