Early Tuesday morning on July 5, 2022, a 21-year-old man was shot in the arm outside the Social Bar and Lounge on the 900 block of Gervais Street. The victim was taken to the hospital and the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Police are still looking for the shooter. This is not the first time a shooting has occurred at Social Bar and Lounge. In 2020, Willie Lee Jones shot two people inside the bar. Deputy Chief Melron Kelly said that if more people had been inside the bar it could have been much worse.
