Local news reports that Ludacris and Zulu were among multiple people shot outside the restaurant and bar Apt4b in the Peachtree Hills shopping center. The shooting occurred early Monday morning in the parking lot. It’s unclear what spurred the shooting but there appears to have been an argument in the parking lot. Two other victims still have not been named.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that a shooting has occurred at the Peachtree Hills shopping center. In September of 2021, a man was shot and killed in the parking lot during an attempted carjacking.
What Can a Shopping Center Do to Improve Security And Prevent Crime?
Legal contributor Attorney Brian Mickelsen, an experienced crime victim lawyer, represents crime victims and gunshot victims injured or killed in shootings, stabbings, and assaults at apartment complexes and commercial properties.
“There are a number of things an apartment complex or commercial property can do to help deter crime. For example, property owners can install a controlled-access gate, maintain adequate lighting, install and monitor security cameras, hire security for patrols, hire a courtesy officer, or hire an off-duty officer to walk the property. Apartment complexes should also warn their residents of prior crimes on the property. Securing a property requires a holistic approach. Very rarely does it come down to one, particular security measure? Rather, it’s a combination of security measures that contribute to safety in a meaningful way.”
